Akoustic Odyssey play at The Promethean on September 19th 2009 Print E-mail


Adelaide's own original, instrumental and eclectic seven piece band Akoustic Odyssey are playing at the smooth and sophisticated Promethean on the 19th September. (Gig and venue details)

After their very successful performances at WOMADelaide, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and The National Folk Festival in Canberra earlier this year, Akoustic Odyssey have been busy composing, rehearsing, recording and performing a bundle of exciting new compositions that they are champing at the bit to play for audiences.

At the Promethean, they will again treat the crowd to their own brand of rich, intricate and diverse compositions. The band will play selection of pieces from their existing recorded works, including some from their popular “Ilios” CD, as well as brand new material from their forthcoming next album (to be launched late this year).


Akoustic Odyssey's music has attracted national and international interest, with their highly original music receiving regular airplay on Radio Adelaide, 5EBI, 3d Radio and ABC FM's Classic Drive with Julia Lester.

Their live performances and CD releases have met with high praise and critical acclaim, with the band recieving nominations for the "Most Outstanding Group" and “Most Outstanding CD Release” in the 2008 & 2009 SA Folk Federation awards respectively.

Akoustic Odyssey have recently started recording their third studio album, are planning a national tour for 2010, and are soon to appear in a number of music festivals throughout the country as their star continues to rise on the world music scene!

The Promethean is a beautifully renovated Gothic building, with former lives as a church, a Liquor Trades Union meeting hall, and a theatre, and is a favourite for Adelaide musicians and music lovers alike.The performance starts at 8pm (doors open at 7.30pm) and tickets are $20 & $15 at the door.
